German Third Reich M33 SS dagger with Ernst Rohm full inscription by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Good rare example, blade etched Meine Ehre heist Treue (My Honour is Loyalty), the reverse bearing 'In herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm, inscription and maker's pre 1935 oval squirral logo. Black wooden grip inlaid with silvered eagle and swastika and enamelled circular SS Sigrunen. The nickel crossguard is stamped I (for Munich area) on the obverse. Housed in black painted scabbard with single loose suspension ring (one throat screw absent). Blade greased, scabbard chape ball with dent, service wear. GC Following Hitler’s purge of the SA during The Night of the Long Knives, Rohm was shot at Stadelheim Prison by SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer Michael Lippert on 2nd July, 1934, An order dated July 4th required all Rohm inscriptions to be obliterated from the blades, failure to do so risked severe punishment.
