£300
Naval Interest- 19th Century gilt brass 32 point naval pocket compass by Abraham & Co of Glasgow. Circa 1840. Owned by Admiral Sir Angus Edward Malise Bontine Cunninghame Graham of Gartmore & Ardoch KBE (1893-1981). He had a distinguished naval career and was also godson to Edward VII where he attended the coronation of 1902 as a Paige Boy. See other lots related to Angus Edward Graham. A provenance note from the family, gifting the compass to his grandson-in-law, is included.
We can confirm that there is some wear to the gilt finish, there is a tiny mark on the dial at 90 degrees, it appears to be working fine and the locking works.
