A Victorian painted cast-iron umbrella stand
by Coalbrookdale, mid 19th century, modeled as a begging dog with a whip, the drip pan modeled as lily pads, the underside marked as 'NO. 85297' and 'NO. 14' with diamond registration mark, height 60cm Width 61cm.
This design was registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Iron Foundry at the Public Record Office on 10 June 1852. It is listed as stand No. 214 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section II, page 233.

Two of the extremities of the drip tray are broken off and part of the dogs lower jaw has broken off - SEE PICTURES.
