£200
Approximately 115 postcards by the artist Donald McGill – all published by Joseph Asher and Co, of Ivy Lane, London. These were printed in various places - mostly Bavaria, but also some in Britain, Holland and two noted in Belgium. Of the cards, 63 are postally unused but 52 have the stamp intact and were posted from 1912-1922. Of the cards sent through the post, 14 pre-date 1914, when World War One started, 15 are dated 1914-1918, five 1918-1922 and the date is unclear on 16. Some of the cards have no publisher details but the serial numbers on the back are consisted with the Asher style – with the letter A followed by two, three or mainly four-figure numbers. Some of the cards have creasing or the usual minor faults associated with this age but most are in good, clean collectable condition.
