Star Lot: A marvelous original Gerald Davis (Irish, b.1938 - d.2005) oil on board painting titled "Wave Form" dating to 1986. Features a dynamic sweeping curved form in a palette of rich blues. Wonderful energy in the application of paint with great confidence of line. Signed and dated bottom left and housed in a very high quality gilt wooden frame with hessian lining. Multiple artist stickers to verso. Davis is a very popular Irish artist with works fetching into the thousands.

Born in Dublin, Gerald Davis was a prominent Irish semi-abstract painter. He was also a gallerist who promoted the work of other Irish artists in Dublin, as well as a critic and a scholar of the work of James Joyce and founder of the record label LIVIA which released albums for Irish jazz musicians, poets and actors. He was a prominent member of the Jewish community in Ireland and commented on the arts and stories of Irish Jewish life in print and broadcast media.
