£80 - £120
Numismatics - George II (1727-1760) - Silver shilling, LIMA issue, 1745 obv. Old bus facing left above 'lima' issue, well struck, condition: GVF; another George II silver shilling 1758, also GVF to VF (2)
Side Note - Lima coins of George II are some of the more sought-after pieces amongst collectors of British coinage. They were minted in 1745-46 using a large hoard of silver captured from the Spanish by Admiral Anson's squadron operating in the Pacific Ocean. The word "Lima" engraved under the bust is a reference to the fact that the Spanish silver was being shipped from Lima back to Spain when it was intercepted by Anson.
