Rare WW1 Germany Prussian Pilots Aviator badge. Manufactured in .800 silver. This badge was awarded to, and inscribed for Franz Walz, 'The Eagle of Jericho' who was later in his career promoted to the rank of General in the Luftwaffe during WW2. Also inscribed to the reverse 'Pour Le Merit', a further distinction. Franz Walz later appeared on an Israeli commemorative stamp and this badge appears alongside the image of him.
