An early 20th century Louis Vuitton trunk, the lid with a brass plaque inscribed 'Princess Victoria of Schleswig Holstein', with LV logo embossed cloth covering, timber straps and leather edging, held with embossed brass studs, the empty interior with quilted lid and red leather maker's label and numbered 124584, 61 cm wide, 43 cm high, 52 cm deep Princess Helena Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein (1870 - 1948) was born at Frogmore House, Windsor Castle and was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her mother was Princess Helena, Queen Victoria's fifth child and third daughter. Her father was Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein-Augustenburg. In 1917, King George V named the Royal Household the House of Windsor, and as a consequence, Princess Helena Victoria's title changed from Her Highness Princess Victoria of Schelswig-Holstein to Her Highness Princess Helena Victoria. The name plate on this trunk would therefore pre-date 1917. Louis Vuitton opened their store at 149 New Bond Street, London in 1900. wikipedia.org - Princess_Helena_Victoria_of_Schleswig-Holstein
