RARE TRANSATLANTIC FREE FRANK COVER EX CHARLOTTE TOWN TO BOARD OF ORDNANCE, LONDON; 17 Mar. 1834 EL that was oddly never sealed but endorsed "O.H.M.S." and "(Open)" on the front - perhaps the sender thought it was a Petition which went at a special rate and had to be open for inspection - from a Pensioner at "Charlotte Town, P.E.I." to "The Secretary of the Board of Ordnance, Pall Mall, London" (rare destination for a free frank) with a partly fine large 2-ring manuscript-dated "POST OFFICE/P.E. ISLAND" UDC (19 Mar.) on the front along with mainly fine small encircled "HALIFAX/N.S" transit cds (15 Apr.) and a fine red London crowned "FREE" arrival d.s.
