A cardboard box containing around 350 standard-size postcards of mainly English topographical – but also a few dozen foreign topo and a few subject cards. We’ve featured some of the better cards in our first three photos, which include a flood scene in Norwich, a Welsh colliery, a Titanic reproduction card, the killing of nurse Edith Cavell in World War One, a New Forest hunt scene and the Athena B washed up on Brighton beach. This lot also includes five Rahael Tuck oilettes, three Tuck Turneresque Series 2593 and five Tuck Connoiseur Series 2574 – these three little Tuck sets all from a proof set of 1,000 cards. There are also images to show 15 cards of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), though these are slightly larger than standard-size; three cards of Chilham (Kent) and five of Abbotsbury (Dorset); plus a book about postcards to commemorate Kew Gardens – and 28 PCs of Kew Gardens. Most of the cards are in good condition but some have the usual faults, such as edge and corner knocks.
