[Sir Pellew & Israel Pellew] (1798) 'Verses Supposed to be Sung,' by Some of the Crew of the Indefatigable, When She Lay at Anchor in Mount's Bay, in the Spring of the Present Tear 1798, in Company with the Cleopatra, the Former Commanded by Sir Edward Pellew, the Latter by His Brother Israel, printed and sold by T. Vigurs, Penzance, 1798. A Small folio sheet, 305mm x 205mm, on heavy wove paper, being a Patriotic song of 21 verses with an additional chorus, over two columns recording British victories by 'The two noble Capt Pellew and Sir Jon Borlase Warren..[and Admiral] Duncan', as well as noting the British victories over 'the Cape of Good Hope....Amboyan and Banda are all our own, and Ceylon is added to Great Britain's Crown... May God bless King George, and long may He Reign/The Terror of Holland, of France and of Spain...' A very early provincial Broadsheet referring to some important Naval Captains with strong South-West associations. Of great rarity in a near fine condition
