Heinrich Friedrich Moshage (German, 1896-1968), ‘Der Grund Jager’, bronze plaque. Raised torpedo design, surrounded by three swimming mermaids, jellyfish and fish. Titled ‘Der Grūnd Jager’ to lower right. Affixed to wooden surround. Plaque likely related to German Naval, perhaps directly from a U-Boat. Likely 1920’s. Plaque design with deep association to the German Torpedomen. Correspondences related to the plaque included (see photos). Some oxidisation to lower right and wooden mount cracked and reglued lower left. 54.5cm x 21.5cm. Wooden mount measures 59cm x 25.5cm. Heinrich Friedrich Moshage was a German Sculptor, wood carver, draftsman and medallist.
