German Third Reich RAD hewer by Eickhorn, Solingen circa 1936-42. A rather relic example of the 1934 model, the blade bearing etched motto "Arbeit adelt", the reverse with RJAD in triangle, "Ges. Gesch" and maker’s squirrel logo; two piece simulated stag horn grip with stylised eagle pommel. Housed in its black painted regulation scabbard, the nickel chape with spade and swastika device, the top mount with ornate design and bearing hanger bar. Reichs Arbeits Dienst was the State Labour Service.
