A French Protestant Bible c.1616, Theodore de Beze & Clément Marot, a/f, lacks title page, text double column, illustrated with vignettes on wood, section towards the end features psalms set to music and is followed by forms of ecclesiastical prayers and catechesis, old calf gilt, boards detached but present. Since the Edict of Nantes in 1598, the printing and distribution of Protestant books were limited to the only strongholds granted to Protestants, namely La Rochelle, Cognac, Montauban, and La Charité sur Loire.
