A mid 19c eight day longcase clock, the 36cm arched painted dial signed J J Rees, Portmadoc and having a lady with her dog in the arch and church in the dial corners. The eight day movement is rack striking on a bell and has anchor escapement. It is contained in a large oak and mahogany case, the hood having swan neck pediments and double baluster columns flanking the dial. The short trunk door has a lozenge shape moulding and heavy turned columns flanking it, with a fixed panel below with a similar moulding. The large base has a similar lozenge moulding and bracket feet. The clock stands 229cm tall overall.
The dial has some rubbing to the hands, seconds ring and minute ring. Themovement seems complete but dusty. There is some damage to the edge of the hood door. The trunk door hinges are loose and there is a split to the left hand side of the base. The weights and pendulum are missing.
