A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY PAIR TO THE LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS. A Great War pair comprising War medal and Victory Medal named to 24998 Pte R.G. Yates Lan Fus. Ronald Charles Yates was born in 1897, the son of Ellen Yates of Batchfield House, Bishop's Frome, Worcester and the late William Herbert Yates. He served with the 2nd/5th Battalion of the Lancashire Fusiliers, he suffered from Pyrexia in February of 1917, at this time he is recorded with A Company of the 12th (Service) Battalion, and received further medical attention in October 1917 at No. 31 Casualty Clearing Station for acute dermatitis. He was killed in action on the 20th October 1918,and is buried at Esplechin Churchyard in Belgium, his headstone reads R.I.P., he was 21 years old. With remains of medal box and transmition slip, copied Medal Index Card and research.
