School of Godfrey KNELLER (1646-1723). Half portrait depicting William III (1650-1702), Prince of the House of Orange-Nassau. Likely late 17th century, depicting the subject in plate armour wearing rococo lace jabot encircled by a further oval frame. Oil on canvas. In open gilt frame with title plate reading 'William III / School of Kneller'. Unusual 'H' monogram in yellow to lower left. Label verso gives provenance to James Lindsay, 24th Earl of Crawford and the 6th Earl of Balcarres dated 13/11/88. Size incl. frame, Height: 84cm Width: 71cm
