Japanese Late Meiji period (1868-1912) blue-ground two-handled oviform Satsuma vase, with frilled neck and scroll handles, finely painted and gilt with two lobed cartouches, one with warriors and the other with courtly ladies, reserved on a ground richly gilt with dense leaves, 26cm high

More Information

There are a few very small chips to the edge of the upper rim, these are beneath the glaze and occurred in the making. There is some flaking to the gilding to one of the court lady's robes, some slight wear to gilding overall. Some typical minor glaze crazing. Requires gentle cleaning.
