An 'Application for Designation Order relating to an Historic Wreck site' to the Runciman Committee, 1981; Facsimile prints of ships logs and accounts; Thirty three b+w photographs showing the St. Anthony salvage job, both above and below water; Seven page typescript, printed to rectos only, about 'The Dollar Wreck'; B+W photographs of Gunwalloe Church wood screen panels, &c. &c. St Anthony (1527) St Anthony or Santo António was the flagship of the Portuguese fleet and personal property of King John III of Portugal. The vessel foundered during a storm in Gunwalloe Bay while travelling from Lisbon to Antwerp carrying a valuable cargo of copper and silver ingots estimated to be worth approximately £18,800 at the time (about 4,000 times a man's annual wage). This is thought to have included the dowry of Princess Catherine, bride of King John III and sister of Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor. 41 of the 86 crew were drowned. The wreck’s importance is reflected in the surviving documentation, including the cargo manifest, and evidence given to a Court of Star Chamber set up by Henry VIII to determine salvage rights to the wreck.
