Mail via Panama - New Zealand. 1867 Mourning cover from Cheltenham to Timaru "via Panama" franked 6d, carried on the "La Plata" to St. Thomas, the "Tyne" to Colon and then the Panama Line "Kaikoura" to Christchurch, backstamped at Christchurch and Timaru. A fine cover, the Panama route to New Zealand only possible 1866-69.
