A George III oak and cross-banded painted dial longcase clock The dial signed Crane, Bromsgrove The hood with swan-neck pediment and turned full columns, the tank with canted front corners, the door cross-banded with mahogany, the plain base box cross-banded with mahogany and raised on a plinth, the arched dial with black Roman and Arabic chapter, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, the arch painted with a marine vignette, the eight-day movement with four knopped pillars striking on a bell. With pendulum, two weights, winder and door key. 53cm wide x 27cm deep x 226cm high Footnote:John Crane is recorded as a clockmaker apprenticed to Henry Peyton of Bromsgrove in 1770 and active circa 1800-1820.
