Built as H.M.S. Nile (see lot 161) in 1839, a veteran of the Crimea campaign, she was converted to a schoolship and renamed Conway in 1875. She remained on the Mersey until World War II before being sent to Plas Newydd for safety and stayed on the Menai Straights thereafter. In 1953 she was being towed to Liverpool for dry-docking when she stranded in the Menai Straight and became a total loss, the last of her was burned in 1956 and the school continued ashore as a 'stone frigate'.
