A most interesting family grouping: Defence Medal (un-named as issued) VF (slight edge bump), with a named card to Miss O. Belchamber, a member of a fire fighting party recognised by Willesden Borough Council, with a named incident/registration slip giving next of kin details, an ARP No 25 duplicated Air Raid Warning instructions leaflet, Miss Belchamber's slip showing her Defence Medal entitlement; and a written note from T. Belchamber KRRC stating the following: "In the First World War, to be precise in September 1915, I was in the trenches, serving the Second Division on the Western Front. We were at Givenchy on the La Bassee sector, facing Lille.....a shell came over and a small piece of shrapnel hit me in the back....". He was unhurt and later took the shrapnel to a jeweller who polished it and made it into a brooch for one of his sisters the above mentioned Miss Belchamber. The brooch, 39mm x 21mm and engraved "Givenchy 1915", is included in this lot. Theodore Hugh Belchamber, 2nd Lt KRRC September 1915. £40-60
