RAF, Air Commodore Wilfred Henry Dunn, CBE (M), DSO & Bar, MiD, (1893-1973) – five various inter-war photograph albums, illustrated with b/w photographs and snapshots of his personal and professional life as a career airman, with life in England, India, and travels in-between; a few informal shots of him and colleagues on active service &/or in uniform (one of Dunn in parade uniform shows his full breast of medals); his family; etc., some ephemera; his Masonic apron, [archive collection]
Air Cdre Dunn was something of a rarity, in having served in all the iteration of the RAF, from the RNAS in World War One (where he was awarded his DSO in East Africa, February 1918, his Bar, May 1918), culminating in his retirement from the RAF during World War Two, June 1944. A descendant fondly records, “ He was an amazing man, and he made the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted.”
