Fees

A needlework sampler, late 19th century, worked by Ellen Franklin (aged 11) and dated 1870, depicting bands of flora and fauna below an alphabet and number frieze, framed and glazed, 35.5cm x 38.5cm overall

More Information

The piece is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection. The piece shows expected darkening to the background fabric and fading to the coloured thread. The piece has been mounted on some kind of backcloth, and this is visible through several small areas of damage to the background fabric (see photos). The frame appears to be sturdy.
