2 Squadron, SAAF South African Korea War Pair of Medals. A scarce pair awarded to Leading Air Mecanic Johannes Daniel Stefanus Snyders of 2 (Flying Cheetahs) Squadron of the South African Air Force who was one of only 800 recipients of the South African Korea War Medal. Comprising:
South African Medal for Korea P163222 J.D.S. SNYDERS, UN Korea Medal. The pair are accompanied by a miniature medal of the first medal and also a pin badge of 2 (Flying Cheetahs) Squadron.
The group is accompanied by a quantity of details research. Leading Air Mecanic Johannes Daniel Stefanus Snyders was born in 1929 and joined the South African Air Force in 1952. Posted in February 1952 to 2 Squadron based in Korea and which operated the F-51 Mustang and then converted to the F-86 Sabre jet fighter. He returned from Korea in October 1953 His service records confirm the award of both medals.
