1932-49 COMMERCIAL TRANSATLANTIC AIR MAIL - TO UK, USA, COMMONWEALTH: A box housing 4 albums containing a range of commercial air mail covers mounted on written-up display pages explaining the rates, carriers, etc., carried by Trans-Canada Airways, Imperial Airways, BOAC, Pan-American Airways, or the North Atlantic Ferry Organisation. Inc. an August 1939 "TRANSATLANTIC FIRST FLIGHT" env. (with a fine cachet) flown from Montreal to Southampton on an Imperial Airways Flying Boat (Short Brothers); an Oct. 1939 air mail env. to the UK franked with a 20c postage stamp + 10c Special Delivery Stamp with a large purple "SPECIAL DELIVERY/SERVICE D'EXPRES" hs which has been crossed out as there was no such service in the UK at that time; a 1940 env. to India with a missing stamp and a s/l "SALVED FROM THE SEA" hs; etc. Mainly from Canada, and many addressed to USA or European countries but others inc.
