A collection of ephemera relating to William Heath Robinson and the Robinson Family: to include: seven black and white photographs of W. Heath Robinson; Silhouettes of his relatives of W.H.R., three together in a birdseye maple frame with label verso inscribed ' Silhouettes of his wife, his sister and brother, by Thomas Robinson, father of W. Heath Robinson, 32.5 x 24.5 cm (including frame); three prints on paper of an illustration by W.H.R.: two hand-coloured, possibly by Robinson as a preliminary colour test; 31 x 21 cm; with another hand-coloured print on card of a golfing illustration with annotations attached, 34 x 24 cm; two envelopes full of film negatives capturing images of Heath Robinson's illustrations, as well as exposures taken from the negatives onto photographic paper with editors annotations; together with a large quantity of prints, posters and photocopies of book pages all related to W.H.R. some with annotations and documents included. Provenance: consigned for sale from the estate of a family member of the artist.
William Heath Robinson was known for his children's books and humorous illustrations. He also contributed cartoons to publications like Sketch and Bystander. From 1903, he extended his talents to illustrate advertising and publicity books for companies such as Moss Brothers, showcasing his delightful cartoon style.
