*The Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild was formed in 1900 by Lady Millicent St. Clair-Erskine. The Guild was formed in an attempt to help the disabled children working in many of the Staffordshire Pottery factories, often with unsafe working practices. The disabled children were taught craft skills and produced items that were sold through The Guild and the money was used to fund The Guild and to provide help to the children.
Both with wear & minor bending, the basket lacking its glass liner.
