A MOLAR TOOTH FROM AN EXTINCT CAVE BEAR URSUS DENINGERI,

Found in Westbury sub, Mendip, Somerset, England. Middle Pleistocene period circa 1.5million years old.



Cave systems first discovered through quarrying in 1969. From fossil records found throughout the site, it is theorised that different cave sections provided different uses for the bears. From a place where females reared their young to a denning area for males.
