Boer War Irish Royal Dublin Fusiliers 6 clasp Queens South Africa Medal. Awarded to 5584 PTE E CARR RL. DUBLIN FUS. Bearing six clasps Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, South Africa 1902. Medal with ghost dates to the reverse. Private Edward Carr a native of Dublin enlisted in November 1895 and landed in South Africa on the 18th May 1897. During the Boer War he was slightly wounded at Colenso on the 15th December 1899. He left South Africa for the East Indies on the 12th February 1902. He service papers indicate he was dangerously wounded in action on the 7th October 1903. Back in the UK he transferred to the Army Reserve on the 15 December 1912.
