Fossil: Extinct Spinosaurus Dinosaur tooth, Late Cretaceous, ~100 million years old
Collected South of Taouz in the Moroccan Sahara.
Spinosaurus, meaning ‘Spined Lizard’, was the longest terrestrial carnivore. A giant predator with finely serrated round teeth. Spinosaurus had a long crocodile like snout and may have hunted fish. The distinctive back-sail could have been used to control temperature or for display.
This tooth exhibits a good tip, nice serrations, and a large section of original root.
Dimensions - the tooth 3.85 inches long. Displayed on post in a glass dome with wood base. With information card, which has a Perspex display stand.
