FINE AND RARE IMPERIAL FAMILLE ROSE YELLOW-GROUND VASE
XIANFENG SIX CHARACTER MARK IN IRON-RED AND PERIOD
the baluster sides finely painted with the 'Eight horses of Mu Wang', within ruyi-head and key-fret borders, reserved against and yellow-ground decorated with lotus and scrolling tendrils, the flared neck with twin lions mask handles and shou-symbols

PROVENANCE: From a Prominent Wiltshire Collection

NOTE: Imperial porcelain made during the Xianfeng period are rare, in part this is due to the short reign of the Emperor, but also that production ceased after the Jingdezhen Imperial kilns were destroyed by the Taiping Rebellion Forces in the 5th year of his reign.
