Early Victorian theatrical Staffordshire figure of Sam Weller as played by actor William John Hammond (1797-1848). This depiction is lifted from Hammond's role in the production eponymous of Dickens' character 'Sam Weller' in 1837. Fully painted in Polychrome Enamels associated with the output of the Dudson Factory. Arms of the figure have signs of restoration. Height: 19.5cm
Restoration to arms, looks to be from a break, black enamels have been overpainted in these areas.
