A pair of Edwardian silver candlesticks, Elkington & Co, Birmingham 1901, the weighted square bases decorated with ram's masks and foliate swags, Corinthian columns and capitals with detachable drip pans, each 32.5cm high

More Information

Drip pans in good order - no signs of major thinning, splitting or repair. Both show minor dents, and general scratching and wear throughout. Both are very stiff to remove, but they are detachable. There is some bending to the corners of the capitals, leaving gaps between the pans and the capitals (see pictures). The capitals are largely in good order some denting and thinning around the detail, but no obvious splitting or repair - please note that there is a build up of silver polish in places, which may be concealing splitting or damage. The columns are in good order, some minor denting to the high points, and general scratching and wear throughout, but no splitting or repair. There is moderate denting, scratching and wear throughout the bases. There is moderate loss of definition to the detail, around the ram masks and swags. There is moderate wear to the felt base, which is lifting around the edges in places.
