1923 GSM Palestine clasp, 1939-1945, Africa Stars and BWM to 5770283 Pte E. Addle King's Own R. nearly very fine and better, court mounted for display with cap badge. Eric Addle was killed in action at sea on 5th December 1941 and is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial. It is assumed he was on the SS Chakdina, which was evacuating 380 wounded from Tobruk. It was hit by a torpedo from a German bomber and sank within 3 minutes leaving the wounded little chance to escape. (R)
