Modernist Poster United Nations Freedom From Hunger. Original vintage poster - United Nations Day 24 October theme Freedom from Hunger - featuring artwork by the notable graphic designer Ashley Eldrid Havinden (1903-1973) of black and white photos set within the bold UN letters of a man in a suit feeding a child and a smiling girl holding a bowl with the themed lettering through the centre and a branch below with the information text on the green leaves in bold white lettering. UN Day / United Nations Day has been celebrated since 1948; the Freedom From Hunger campaign was launched in 1960 by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation FAO. Prepared for the Foreign Office by the Central Office of Information COI (formed in 1782 the Foreign Office merged with the Commonwealth Office to become the FCO then with the DFID to form the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office FCDO; established after WWII, the COI was the government's communications agency from 1946-2011). Printed by Multi-Machine Plates Ltd. Excellent condition. Country of issue: UK, designer: Ashley Havinden, size (cm): 37.5x25, year of printing: 1960.
