A pair of unusual 18th Century embroidered Pictures with primitive figures, birds, flowering trees, motto 'Remember me when this you see', signed Mary Kirby and dated July 18 and September 22nd, 1787, one when 60, the other when 61, 7 1/2 x 11in, framed and glazed, some discolouration. FOOTNOTE: The inscription 'Remember me when this you see' suggests she was unwell and about to die, and wanted to make something to be remembered by.
both are quite badly foxed, especially the july 18th example, with heavy brown staining. they are both slightly faded, but colours are quite good. details of face on lady in september picture not very clear
