PLUS "+" IN CIRCLE: 14 Mar. 1854 unpaid EL (some dusting) from "Rocky Hill, New Jersey" to Paris but apparently handed direct to ship in Quebec (?) having v.fine green "PKT.LETTER/LIVERPOOL" tombstone d.s. with matching v.scarce "+" in circle inspector's mark both on the flap; also with fine orange-red boxed London "CANADA/&c.ART.12." (crease at top). Redirected on arrival in France with red "LETTRE ARRIVEE/DECACHETEE" (Received unsealed) across the join on reverse.
