A pair of Japanese bronze 'rat' candlesticks, Meiji period, each cast and modelled as rat holding a root vegetable, incised Kakihan mark to base, 16cm and 17cm high

CONDITION: The rat holding a carrot like vegetable has some re-pinning to its right paw to support the carrot and has a repaired tail with some either solder or glue around the area adjoining to the body, the second rat holding a globular root vegetable has got a replacement tail done in patinated white metal, there is also a large patch of coloured wax to the base maybe hiding a casting imperfection, there has been some restoration to the leaves for the nozzles of the candles, otherwise in reasonable condition.
