1899 QSA 3 clasps Defence of Mafeking, OFS, Transvaal to 426 Tpr T. Powell Protect Regt F.F. and 1902 KSA both clasps to 34766 Serjt T. Powell Brabant's Horse nearly extremely fine, unofficial rivets between 1st and 2nd clasps on QSA.
Thomas Powell was taken Prisoner of War at Mafeking on 27th October 1899 when Captain Fitzclarence's squadron made a night attack on the surrounding Boer trenches, Powell being 1 of 2 men captured. He was released on 6th June 1900, thus spending over 7 months as a Boer POW. Later served with 1st and 2nd Brabant's Horse, additionally awarded Cape Colony clasp off a 3rd roll.
