bear Scottish coat of arms  a crest in form of an arm holding up a coronet and the Latin motto 'VIRTUTIS GLORIA MERCES', flanked by a serpent and a dove, with the motto 'WISE AS THE SERPENT, HARMLESS AS THE DOVE', below is a naked figure chained to the coat of arms
