A fine Roman carnelian intaglio of Mars 2nd to 3rd century AD
Set in an antique gold ring
The God stands holding a small effigy of Victory in his right hand presenting him with a victorious laurel wreath and on his left he holds a cornucopia or horn of plenty. On his right side is also his armoured breastplate and on the left side are his javelin and shield.
