Oldsmobile Kalahari Expedition. 1929 Cover to Cape Town bearing two Bechuanaland KGV 1d stamps, one cancelled "OLDSMOBILE / 23 NOV. 1929 / KALAHARI MAIL" with a second strike alongside, the other cancelled at Gaberones Station (Nov 28). The Expedition crossed the Kalahari in Oldsmobile vehicles, from Ghanzi to Gaberones and went on to Johannesburg. Very little mail was carried and the expedition c.d.s is very scarce; this is the only cover we have recorded with the datestamp on Bechuanaland stamps. A few minor edge stains, otherwise fine and probably unique. Photo on Page 128.
