Star Lot : A beautiful vintage oil on board portrait painting of a young woman signed H.K. bottom right. Broad brushstrokes in contrasting tones of pink and green highlight her complexion wonderfully. Photograph attached to verso of the 'Joyce sisters', Dee Allen, Sal (Sarah) O'Malley and Bina (Sabina) O'Malley. Subject of this painting is Sarah O'Malley Irish Anesthetist (1896-1959) born in remote Connemara to a sheep rearing family she went on to study Medicine in London and became an excellent anesthetist with the Irish Times printing an article on 'The life and times of the remarkable Dr Sarah O’Malley' in 2020.'
