1842 Victoria medal commemorating the victory over China in the First Opium War, 1840-1842 by Davis. Obv. bust of Victoria facing left, hair decorated with roses and other flowers, Rev. Reverse: Four British military officers facing four Mandarins their leaders in the centre hold either ends of a scroll. Peace looking down with Victory flying above. 'THE TRIUMPH OF THE BRITISH ARMS 1842 in exergue. ⌀65mm, a small knock to the cheek and some minor environmental damage though a scarce medal, GVF/NEF.
