Lt. Charles Malden (1797-1855) and thence by descent.

Robert Charles Malden (1797-1855) proceeded in the Scipion to the Bay of Biscay and in the Nisus to the East Indies and assisted at the reduction of Mauritius and Java. Soon after the commencement of the war with America, he was sent home in a captured American Indiaman. Returning to the expedition against New Orleans where he suffered badly from frostbite. In the summer of 1824 he accompanied Lord Byron in the Blonde for a surveying expedition to the Pacific during which voyage they escorted the remains of the late King and Queen of the Sandwich Islands, and Byron honoured Malden by naming an island after him, returning in the spring of 1826 when he was discharged. The bark paper included with the descriptive voyage in lot 112 was collected by Malden on this trip.
