GB. COVERS & POSTAL HISTORY 1789 (20 Aug) letter from "Honest" Daniel Braithwaite (the controller of the Post Office Foreign Department) to Lord Walsingham. Lord Walsingham, the Postmaster General had asked Braithwaite about the number of "Lordships" he would introduce into a single letter. In the present one there are three. Braithwaite advises Walsingham that he has forwarded his letter to "Mr. Todd" (Anthony Todd, secretary to the Post Office), who cannot come to Town following the death of Lord Lauderdale.
