A FINE 19TH CENTURY SPORTING FLINTLOCK GUN BY GULLEY OF LONDON. A fine sporting gun by Gulley of London. With a 98cm Damascus smooth-bore barrel with gold breech bands at the octagonal section, and an inset label 'Gulley London', with ramrod mounted below. The decorative flintlock action with 'S' shaped hammer, gilt pan and decorative detailing, with roller bearing, the side-plate signed 'Gulley'. The elaborate trigger guard with pineapple terminal, gun dog and sunburst motif. The finely cross-hatched walnut stock inlaid with a small gold oval engraved with the previous owners initials and crest, with raised cheek piece. 140cm overall. Gulley appears to be Joseph Gulley of 252 Oxford Street who were makers of very fine guns of this type. *CR: Light marks from use and age, a nice example in pleasing condition.
