A 19th century needlework sampler from St. Matthew's Orphanage by Miriam Tree, aged 16 and dated 1873, bearing the alphabet, and a religious verse, together with a letter dated 1912, addressed to Mrs. Murphy regarding Rev. F.E. Murphy - vicar at St. Matthew's Church, Bayswater, London. The letter refers to this tapestry and explains that Miriam Tree was found in a tree and brought to the orphanage, however she sadly died at the age of 16, as well as a postcard, margin dimensions: 22 x 16 cm, frame dimensions:36 x 29.5 cm, mounted, glazed and framed

There is a small hole in the sampler just below the letter 'G' of the top alphabet.
Some fraying between the letters 'D' and 'E'. Loose red thread to the letter 'F' on top alphabet.
Hole to sampler just visible in bottom left corner.
